" In 2008, I planned to take my son to an amusement park for a concert. To my dismay, I realized that because my son has limited mobility, the 3 hour-long drive, complete with
frequent stops for diaper changes and snack breaks, would take a toll on me. I called the park in advance to find out if they had any rides that could accommodate my son. The disappointing reply was
'Ma'm I'm sorry, but not at this time' Once again, my happy little boy would not be able to participate in activities that able-bodied children regularly enjoy.
At that moment, with tears in my eyes, I decided to join forces with other families and organizations to offer specialized, therapuetic and fun-filled activities and events to children with special needs and families. One summer, I organized an event using my own money. When I saw the smiles, joy, and laughter on the faces of not only the children but the parents as well, I knew I had found my calling.
I, too, suffered temporary disabilty as a result of a fall. It was one of the most difficult times of my life. I went from being self sufficient to becoming depent on others. I fought hard to combat depression and isolation. I came to know the life of persons with disabilites first hand. I vowed that with every service we provide, it MUST impact the quality of life of all participants."
